What I've been up to with my books

I've been reading them of course!

Since my last post almost 2 weeks ago (sorry about that!), I've finished 3 more books!

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Caught (The Yada Yada Prayer Group, Book 5) (With Celebrations and Recipes)The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Caught (The Yada Yada Prayer Group, Book 5) (With Celebrations and Recipes) by Neta Jackson

This is #5 in the Yada Yada series by Neta Jackson, and the Yada Yadas are in deeper than they ever imagined!  They use their friendships and the power of prayer to get through each new obstacle.  I don't want to say too much about what predicaments come up because it will give away too much, but let's say that they all find that they need each other more than ever.

Neta Jackson also includes recipes for some of the foods she talks about in the book.  I made Jodi Baxter's Lemon Thyme Chicken a few nights ago, and I have to say it was wonderful!

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Rolling (The Yada Yada Prayer Group, Book 6) (With Celebrations and Recipes)The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Rolling (The Yada Yada Prayer Group, Book 6) (With Celebrations and Recipes) by Neta Jackson

The sixth Yada Yada installment begins to wrap up many of the story lines of the series, as well as opening the door to other things to come in the future.  Also includes more yummy recipes that I'm looking forward to trying.

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Decked Out (The Yada Yada Prayer Group, Book 7)The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Decked Out (The Yada Yada Prayer Group, Book 7)  by Neta Jackson

The final Yada Yada book in the series, and also among the shortest (only 215 pages).  I finished this one in a day and a half.  It's a nice conclusion to a nice book series that not only touches on some "touchy" subjects like race, tolerance, and acceptance, but intertwines the power of prayer, friendship, and fellowship to overcome all obstacles without being preachy.  I will miss Jodi Baxter's dialogue with her friends, but I'm glad to have some of her recipes!

Overall, I would recommend this book series to anyone.  You don't need to follow any faith in particular to enjoy the stories about the friendship that surfaces from what was intended to be a brief encounter at a prayer conference.  I think my favorite book in the series is probably #3 - The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Real (The Yada Yada Prayer Group, Book 3)

Neta Jackson started another book series called the Yada Yada House of Hope.  According to the descriptions, some of the Yada Yadas make appearances throughout the series, although I don't think I'm going to read them at this time.  Maybe next year!

Here are the list of the Yada Yada House of Hope Books:

Where Do I Go?: A Yada Yada House of Hope Novel by Neta Jackson

Who Do I Talk To? (Yada Yada Series)  by Neta Jackson

Who Do I Lean On? (A Yada Yada House of Hope Novel) by Neta Jackson (due out in June 2010)
