I am an avid crocheter who comes from a long line of crocheters (my mother excluded oddly enough). I've been crocheting for 10 years now, and was so excited when I saw that Betty Hechtman started a crochet murder mystery series!
Book #4 in her series just came out a couple weeks ago: A Stitch in Crime (A Crochet Mystery). This quirky mystery series follows the life of Molly Pink who just so happens to get herself entangled in murder investigations much to the dismay of her detective boyfriend.
I discovered this series when I began to notice how many different series of niche hobby murder mysteries there were. I figured if there was one for scrapbooking, knitting, decoupage, and domestic divas, there had to be one for crochet.
I found the first book in Betty Hechtman's series named Hooked on Murder (A Crochet Mystery). I enjoyed it so much that I bought and read the next two in the series: Dead Men Don't Crochet (A Crochet Mystery) and By Hook or by Crook (A Crochet Mystery).
Ms. Hechtman's books are the type you want to curl up in a blanket with a nice cup of tea to enjoy. They're a lighter read which I appreciate especially after reading a heavier subject book. It's like taking a little vacation without leaving your chair.
What's funny for me is that Betty Hechtman's series and Neta Jackson's Yada Yada series both have a character in them named Adele. The two Adeles are nothing like each other, and for a while I have to remember which one is the one I'm reading about! I know it's silly, but when a name sticks in your mind with a certain character, it's difficult to get that image to change.
So far, I'm keeping on track with my reading schedule. I'm hoping to have this book finished before I get Jodi Picoult's new book next month. If I have some time in between the two books, I may pick a small book off my shelf to read between the two.
